On 23 March 2026, Department of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organised a seminar on “Enhancing Knowledge, Understanding, and Prevention of Violations of Diplomatic, Consular, and International Organisation Privileges and Immunities” at Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai. The seminar was presided over by Mr. Chakkrid Krachaiwong, Director-General of Department of Protocol, and attended by over 100 representatives from diplomatic missions, consular representatives and international organisations residing in Thailand.

The seminar aimed to enhance knowledge and understanding of diplomatic privileges and immunities, and to promote proper facilitation practices, while providing an opportunity for participants to exchange views and experiences on related issues. Key topics included  vehicle ownership, visa and stay permit extension and airport pass, with sessions delivered by experts from relevant Thai authorities, namely the Customs Department, the Department of Land Transport, the Department of Consular Affairs, the Immigration Bureau, and Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited.

The seminar highlighted strong inter-agency coordination in facilitating the work of diplomatic missions and consular representatives, as well as international organisations in Thailand.
